Gidgit Gives

10% of all profits are donated to non-profit organizations supporting children development in STEM; teacher grants; and college scholarships. Why??? Read on…

Have you ever looked at a child while they stare at the stars? Not a quick look or a casual glance… but really looked to try and understand what they are seeing? What are they feeling? It is a sense of wonder? A sense of amazement?

At Gidgits and Gazmos, we believe that children are born with an unquenchable thirst to understand their surroundings, an ever-growing desire to learn and understand the world around them. Sure, it starts small exploring their own fingers and toes… but as time progresses, this sense of curiosity expands to the world around them. “How do those massive steel ships float? How do airplanes fly? What are stars made of?” Sure, they can do a web search and find some information here and there to satisfy their inquisitive minds in some areas, but others may take more focus. More effort and resources. Many times people choose to pursue their interests through further studies and development through multiple channels. This may include something like joining a robotics club or going on a marine biology trip with your school… and may ultimately lead to a hopeful career in STEM.

Unfortunately, with the rising costs of tuition, it is not always possible to pursue these desires. To some, a college education is a dream that may never happen. Whether they do not have the money to pay for tuition or they cannot qualify for financial aid because their parents make too much money. There is also the all too real scenario where they are able to make their dreams happen, but end up paying for it, for 10-15-20 years as they pay off their student loans.

This picture needs to change. Every child should have the same opportunities to pursue their dreams in STEM. For our part, Gidgits and Gazmos is working to “level the playing field”. We will donate 10% of all profits to help fund local non-profit organizations that support the growth of children in STEM. This may be supporting a local astronomy club or even sponsoring a student robotics competition team from the local high school. We want everyone to have the opportunity to grow in STEM.
